Influenza Types

Influenza (i.e. flu) is caused by various viruses. Nowadays, three types of flu could be found: A, B & C. Among them, A is the most common one. In Hong Kong, H1N1 and H3N2 could be seen very often. They are spread via the respiratory tract, predominantly by airborne or droplet spread or through direct contact with patients' secretions. Patients usually present with fever, headache, muscle ache, blocked or running nose, sore-throat, cough and tiredness, etc.

Prevention is better than cure. To prevent your staff to be infected by these viruses, many companies would arrange the flu vaccination for your staff and dependants around October & November every year. In order to cater for clients' need, HMMP Ltd would have the special offer for the flu vaccination this year.

The viral-strain composition recommended for the vaccination programme in 2003 is as follows:

A/New Caledonia (H1N1) - like virus
A/Fujian (H3N2) - like virus
B/Shanghai - like virus

Remark:

Those who are pregnant/plan to be pregnant could have the flu vaccination
Age group from 6-35 months : The one who hasn't received any flu vaccination before , should take 2 vaccines with 0.25ml/dose. The second vaccine would be delivered 1 month after the first vaccine; The one who has received the flu vaccination before, take 1 vaccine with 0.25ml/dose
Age group from 3-8 years: The one who hasn't received any flu vaccination before, should take 2 vaccines with 0.5ml/dose. The second vaccine would be delivered 1 month after the first vaccine; The one who has received the flu vaccination before, take 1 vaccine with 0.5ml/dose
Age group from 9 years onwards : take 1 vaccine with 0.5ml/dose

Arrangements and Charge for Vaccination Programme

1.On-Site (Over 25 persons) $85/dose
" HMMP Ltd. will arrange register nurse to go to your office for the vaccination, very convenient to the members and the company.
OR

2. Clinic $85/dose
" Vaccine Location: Central, Wanchai, Causeway Bay, Quarry Bay, Cheung Sha Wan, Mongkok, Jordan, Ngau Tau Kok, Tsuen Wan, Shatin
